We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kimberly Monachino, the director of the Office for Exceptional Children at the Ohio Department of Education, will deliver the keynote address at our annual conference.
She will share with us a wealth of information regarding policies, updates, initiatives and more regarding individuals with disabilities, from birth to age 21 and their families.
Dr. Kim Monachino became the director of the Office for Exceptional Children at the Ohio Department of Education in August 2017. Dr. Monachino has more than 29 years of professional experience in the field of education through a variety of roles in northeastern Ohio. She was most recently with Lorain City Schools, serving as the executive director of Student Services, where she provided leadership to support preschool through grade 12 students with disabilities. Under Dr. Monachino’s leadership, the district provided ongoing professional learning for all staff to implement district-wide inclusive practices. Prior to that role, she served in positions supporting children with diverse learning needs as special education coordinator, director of pupil services, special education supervisor and special education teacher. She also taught courses related to special education for nine years at John Carroll University and Concordia University. Dr. Monachino received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Youngstown State University and a Master of Science in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Kent State University. She also received a Specialist in Education degree in Administration from Kent State University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Akron.
